mattie Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 i am starting a new nano of sorts using my old nano. i tried to sell it complete and then in parts so i am starting over but this time no sps and no clams... so i am starting off with a 20g and i have squeezed in the sump area a 10g i was able to take the stand apart to fit the 10g in this time i am using a mag drive 1.9 as the return pump and an old seaclone as the protien skimmer which fit in the sump area i am usiing my old sand which was pretty smelly so it may take a while for the tank to cycle. but it is a start. i am using about 15lbs of good live rock i have had in another tank for a while which i am hoping helps my last 20g nano went to the extreme. metal halide and lots of sps. i have now moved all that to the 75g this nano will be a practical nano. no complecated dosing or drip's(i hope) no intense lighting. just an 18k 18w florescent bulb. corals if any must not need light.... soft water flow. and i am going to try black sand...."tahitian moon"..... I started it today when the water clears i will post some pics the old 20g nano thread http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthread...ighlight=mattie
mattie Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 okay here is the start of the reborn nano 20g 20lbs mixed black and white sand with about 14lbs of rock
mattie Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 the hellolights digi temp readout the cpr overflowbox in the back the mini hob filter
mattie Posted July 7, 2005 Author Posted July 7, 2005 the sump/refugium no frills 10gallon barebottom with good live rock rubble no baffles and a seaclone skimmer in the sump simplicity at its best
Cesar Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 WOW I can see it already, a tank full of exotic corals. Good luck. I have always admire your work.
BelowH2O Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 yeah, after the first thread I too am looking to see how this will turn out
TheCoralReef731 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Cool, a new tank. So are you sure that your 75 isn't too crowded, cause I could always hold a few corals for you.
TheCoralReef731 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Oh, and what is that black stuff in the sand?
mattie Posted July 8, 2005 Author Posted July 8, 2005 the black stuff is a little tahitian moon black sand. i had it from another tank and threw it in to be wierd i guess. the tank is cycling...probably becouse of the old sand. so it will be a while before i add anything too exciting. my 75 isn't too crowded but i do have a few frags of the things that grow fast. hint....hint...
mattie Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 well i got my 20 looking more like a nano-reef again i traded some locals some sps frags for some zoo's and that makes the tank. no fish and probably never will livestock list mysis shrimp a hermit blue leg a astrea snail a mexican turbo a tiger turbo snail and an arrow crab since there is no fish i feed the tank about once a month there are mostly zoo's and some ricordia's this tank runs very well i am surprised only 130watts of pc light and mag2 return from the sump and a seaclone skimmer nothing else no heater even the tank runs cool like 72-74' just thought i would share my nano again
