Cholesterol
I'm looking for a replacement to the stock pump. Considered a rio 1400 but heard they could be a little noisy. I'm torn between the Hydor L35: http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp...product=HD09202 and the Rio HyperFlow 8: http://www.reefgeek.com/products/categorie...mps/104571.html Hydor is 450gph, 19w, and $53 shipped. Rio is 550(!)gph, 30w, and $35 shipped. I'll almost certainly add a second pump (MJ1200?) in chamber 1 on a wavemaker in addition to whatever pump I choose for my main return. Chris is building my hood, and I want to keep the watts IN the tank low if I can so I can put more watts ABOVE the tank! Thanks for any thoughts! Link to comment
mdt178
Just so you know, the RIO HF10 (660ghp @ 35W) has the same dimension as the HF8, I would have gone with the HF10 had I had a BB tank . IME, the RIO HF8 was considerably more noisy than the MJ1200, I don't know how it would compare with a Rio 1400, but I kinda get used to it by now. You can go with a MJ900 (230gph @ 8W) if you're looking for lower wattage and heat. Link to comment
