MadSnowman
well, my pH is now happy (8.2-8.3) and all my chem levels are good, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5. So I went and picked up a peppermint shrimp. After acclimating him I stuck him in the tank and he seemed fine for about an hour or two, but now he's on his back not moving or anything. I heard somewhere that they do that when they are stressed, is that true or is he dead? Link to comment
Kogut
Watch him and see.. How did you acclimate him? Shrimp (as with all inverts) are VERY SENSITIVE to changes in water params. Specifically, salinity. They are very prone to salinity shock. This is why most people drip acclimate them. He may have gone into shock because of a great difference in your water and the LFS' water. Hope he's okay, though. Good luck. Link to comment
MadSnowman
I spent about an hour and a half acclimating him. I dont use the drip method because I fear my cats doing something stupid to the bucket, so I floated him and added half a cup of water every 10min. Now he's all curled up on the bottom, he's moved some but I think that just because of the current. edit: yeah, he's dead I'm gonna check my water and make sure everything is still good. I might pick up some hermits later this week after testing some more and clearing a safe space to try the drip method. Link to comment
