adamjonpeterson
Most of the corals I plan to add are on good size rocks, so I am just waiting till I get the temp figured out to add them. I ordered a fan that I have to install plus I need a heater at night. Link to comment
Travis
Why don't you go with these 50/50 10 watters... https://www82.safesecureweb.com/webaquatics...tegory_Code=BPC Or even better, the 20 watt version... https://www82.safesecureweb.com/webaquatics...tegory_Code=BPC Link to comment
FishFreak
Thata what I was about to suggest. Go with at least 1 50/50 Link to comment

I have half the water and just as much light. Plus the hood is completley enclosed. I don't mind adding a fan, and heater. I actually like the color that the tank is right now. I get sick of the blue sometimes. I have a 26 bow with 20k metal halides. Link to comment
Travis
These Lights are now where near as blue as a 20K MhBulb Maybe just use 1 10w 50/50 Bulb? Link to comment
adamjonpeterson
What is wrong with the two I have? Doesnt 6500k actually make coral grow quicker, than 10000k? I don't mind the color. Link to comment
Travis
I was just sugesting what I personaly like, but if your good with the color, kudos to you Link to comment
Plancton
Hi, I would suggest you to place the metalic interior of a bag o´chips inside the top of the hood, it works as a great reflector. Link to comment
jmt
You can't be serious... Check out the $9 reflector. Should work well mounted inside your hood, but you'll have to trim down the length a little. http://www.reeftanklighting.com/shopdispla...Bare+Reflectors Plus, I hear they're gaining a good rep. adamjonpeterson
sure doenst. I will probably just go to home depot and get some flashing to use as a reflector. Link to comment
jmt
http://www.reeftanklighting.com/shopdispla...Bare+Reflectors Should work now. Don't use flashing from Home Depot. Just nut up an order a good reflector. All of $15 shipped I'm sure. Link to comment
adamjonpeterson
Still doesnt work, but why no flashing? Link to comment

jmt
Crazy. Maybe they don't allow remote linking? I tested it right after I posted and it worked fine. Link to comment
catintat
Wow. This nano is going to be TOO CUTE! I can't wait to see it develop. I have a 2.5 gallon I was going to try to set-up as an experiment, but figured I might have better luck with the 10 gallon first. Does your canopy contact make them or was this a special item they had? I'd be interested in purchasing one myself. Regards, Alanna Link to comment
adamjonpeterson
This isnt something that he makes, he just had one from an old 2.5 he had. Also I am starting to get some algae so I need to get that under control. Link to comment
jmt
It's to be excpeted with the bulb color you have chosen. Link to comment
Hannahlyn
algae doesnt happen becasue of a light bulb it happens because of extra nuterints in the water however the light will allow it to grow faster Link to comment

It also doesnt help that I have no clean-up crew, and also no macro in my fuge yet. These are all things I have on the list. Link to comment
Hannahlyn
lol it'll get there maybe do a water change and algae scrapper your glass for now Link to comment
jmt
Actually, light and light color are big factors in algae growth. Excess nutrients just happen to also cause algae as well. The combonation of both, however, seems to have a synergistic effect on growth. Link to comment
adamjonpeterson
Also algae can be expected with a new cycling tank. As I said I am not worried. I have a 26 bowfront that is doing well and it just takes some time. I was hoping to stock the tank this week, but I am very busy at work, and it will have to wait. Link to comment
jmt
Obviously. I'm just saying, I have run to similar tanks (1 with the exact same bulbs) and both of them had algae problems. Other similar set-ups with different light spectrums, however, did not. Link to comment
