stoney waters Posted March 31, 2005 Share Posted March 31, 2005 I use the 500 model as a second pump in my DX. I think they are designed well. The wire is attached at the top, which makes it space effecient. Also the intake is on the bottom of the unit which is good because the water level can drop farther before it "sucks air". The only issues I have are that they are quite noisey and generate more heat compared to other pumps. I am thinking of switching to 606s. Link to comment

It has a flowrate of 300 gph and just fits in the space for the return pump if its turned at an angle. It only draws 8.9 watts and is not supposed to produce much heat at all.
