reyberg
I am starting a 20 Long and am wondering if money wasn't really an object, what would be teh ideal light to grow a nice, well diversified reef? I was thinking maybe (3) 55watt Power Compacts or a metal halide/Power compact combo. I don't really want to have to buy a chiller. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ryan Link to comment
adinsxq
depends on who you talk to... chris-marks got a: http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthread...=&threadid=5240 tonight in the chatroom val said: we do 2x55 on a standard 20 and thats a TON of light cmore argued: i do 2x55w PC on a 29g and that's like no light my LFS has shrooms growing like crabgrass in a tank lit by halides pike said: I have 2 x 55W over a 29 2 x 55 is still enough to bleach shrooms on the bottom of my tank then bearded spoke: you can alway raise the halide and guest chimed: on a 20 Long 2 x 55 will be plenty to grow any coral I want eh... so i guess i didn't answer your question, but if yar decide on a JBJ or t-5 retrofit, PM me. WHOOPS, another shame-less(-ful) plug. :x oh and if i've misquoted any of you above, put me on a stick and burn me. (nope i didn't ask permission:D ). just trying to get people into the room. Physh1
I used a 150w 12k DE HQI on my 20 gallon. It was a hanging hood from AquaMedic and I had clams, softies, SPS, LPS, shrooms, etc, etc, etc.... You coould apply the same to your 20l. You could also get a 175 watt halide and use some pc supplementation too. Here is a link to my old 20 reef... http://www.californiareefs.com/tank20reef.htm Cameron Link to comment
