The only mods I did to the hood is from the back. You can't see anything thats different to the hood from the front. Even all the light modifications I have done, is undetectable from the outside.

GJ on that tank man. I also have a eclipse 12gal. Because of the inspiration to your mods with the 96watt retrofit, I decided also to get the same 96watt 4 bulb setup, it is in the mail now..

 

With your fan mod, what is your temps in your tank with that light running? and how many hours per day do you run your light?

Nice start. The splash guard is about the only thing I'm missing.

for a splash guard you can use a piece of acrylic, just cut to fit the top of your tank.

 

take a piece of cardboar and use it as a template. cut the template to what you want, and put it on top of a sheet of acrylic and score it with a utility knife.

 

then you will get a splash guard
