bdmiller
I have a venturi on my maxi-jet 400 powerhead. Right now I have it closed so there are no bubbles coming from it. What's better bubbles or no bubbles? I would say yes because it would add more oxygen to the tank, but do the bubbles bother corals? Link to comment
Physh1
Bubbles can cause a few problems. Excessive evporation can occur not to mention the excessive salt "creep" you'll develope on the tank edges. Some corals really don't like lots of bubbles. Oxygen wise you just need good circulation and water aggitation to get good oxygen levels. As long as the water surface has ripples and looks active your oxygen level is going tobe ok. Brianc_4
Bubbles may cause some trouble for certain kinds of corals, but there is no real advantage to having them in the first place. Bubbles do not equal dissolved oxygen. Surface agitation is what adds to dissolved oxygen in a tank. The only addition of oxygen that bubbles create is the slight surface agitiation they cause. Better off with it closed. Good luck;) Link to comment
