ALIFE 7 - 3.27 w/ Moonlighting

Well for my ALIFE 7’s 3rd birthday I thought it would be fitting to upgrade the lighting, soooooo now I have 3.27 and moonlighting installed. The lights are (2) 27 W 50/50 Act./10K & (1) 10K and they all fit in the original splash lens. I flattened the reflector and mounted the light clips to the reflector, then screwed the reflector to the hood. It was a mighty tight fit getting the lens to fit over all the lights. The moons are (2) LED lights that can change from blue to red if you want to watch the nightlife in the tank. The ballast are located below the tank in the stand. I have (2) Workhorse 2 and the original ballast running the (3) lights. The original fan is still in the top along with a turbo style fan blowing in air from the back. The fans & the moonlights are running off the same 7.5-volt power converter. I’ll keep an eye on the temps, but for now it’s running at 79.

Maybe for the ALIFE 7’s 4th birthday I’ll install a T-5 in the front of lens.

wow that's cool! ....i've never seen act03/10K bulbs together (in a 50/50 conformation). that's a sharp looking tank, any pix of what it looks like inside though?

ccjung @ nanocustoms.com sells the act03/10K 50/50 lights on his web site. They will also work on Nano Cubes.

I'll post new pics later after every thing in the tank has settled down. I did my semi-annual tank cleaning today after I installed the lights.

Looking good Rick!! I think me and you are the only ones with Alife's still setup. :) I need to post pics of mine and I think I may follow your route and put in a 2nd bulb (3 is pushing it for capnella :)). I should have some pics tonight or tomorrow. Gonna order a couple bulbs from Ccjung as well. Mine needs to be replaced ASAP.

Looking good.

Yes that is a lot of sand. It’s approx 4” deep in a 12” deep tank.

The sand bed is still active after 3 years. I can always see several

worms burrowing in the sand next to the glass, or moving sand

around on the surface. Next time I setup a nano it will have between

2 or 3 inches of sand, because the worms are never deeper than that.
