qristeele
Found this on my rock when I bought it yesterday. Any idea what it is? TIA! Link to comment
Chyendra
Picture didn't show up... but from the discription it sounds like it could be a type of sponge... i get white cone shaped sponges all over my tank.... see if you can get the picture to work so we can be sure Link to comment
qristeele
Got the pic uploaded already. Link to comment
BKtomodachi
Nope, no pic there. Maybe some tiny mini-dusters.. they spiral into little cones, but only like 1-2mm in size. Link to comment
qristeele
Ok, here they are.. one 'cone' got detached from the rock and am now floating on my water surface. Link to comment
reef hugger
To me they look like some kind of Byrozoan. Could also be a hydrozoan. Do they have a lace like pattern to them? Like this http://www.civgeo.rmit.edu.au/bryozoa/gowl...s/iodiphoc.html obviously that is not it but, the pattern to the growth is what I was after. It is hard to tell in your picture. How close of a pic can you get of them? Link to comment
qristeele
Hmm.. Nope, they are not growing interlaced with each other. In fact each one is an individual piece.. You know like how you will roll a piece of paper to form like a funnel kinda thing? That's pretty much like it. Link to comment
Prunfarm
Nudibranch eggs. I gotta pic, I'll try to post it. Link to comment
qristeele
Eggs? Yikes!! Ok, please do post the pic up if you have it. BTW, what should I do now? Leave it or remove it? Link to comment
Prunfarm
Forget it, I gotta get to work so just do a search on nudibranch eggs, and you'll see plenty of pics. BTW, I wonder what kind they are! Maybe the ones that eat Aiptasia! Anyway, there is about 10K to 100K in each cone, so I don't know what might happen w/ the larvae (not to mention the Cuisinart effect from the powerheads/filters) Link to comment

qristeele
Got a pic here.. Prunfarm, I think you're right man.. What to do now? Link to comment
Prunfarm
Good question! Me, I like reasons to start new tanks, lol, so I'd probably do a small rearing tank w/ just a sponge filter (just for Sh!ts and Giggles). You could try to contact a local city aquarium, and see if they are interested. Other then that, I'd probably take'em out - chances are you will get more! Anyone else have any ideas? Link to comment
qristeele
I've removed them already. Mine is just a nano-tank (my first marine startup) and I am worried about the possible biohazard. Link to comment
