trace elements? what are they and why do we like them?

Trace Elements refers to the little stuff that's there but isn't really something that is always easily measured.

 

If someone uses trace elements in reference to something it means that the purity is tainted by some degree. So a piece of gold with trace elements of zinc would not be 100% gold but instead some lesser percent.

 

With reference to the tanks, trace elements refers to the various other nutrients and what not that we want in our tanks that the critters feed upon. Iodine, calcium, etc. When you do your water changes and add more salt, you are addding many of these trace elements back into your tank.
