DiYeti
Another newbie here hoping ya'll will check my list and tell me if there's something I've forgotten in tank set-up. I have a 10 gallon standard glass tank (20"x10"x12"). I hope to keep a goby, clean-up critters, whatever is growing on the rock for now. I would add a little more livestock after the tank is well-established. Light: 20" Aqualight 96w Quad (will add moonlight LED) Water circulation: Whisper HOB filter with media removed plus two micro jet pumps Filtration: 12-15 lbs. cured live rock with 2-3" sand/crushed coral substrate (new, seeded with live sand from LFS) Light will be on mounting legs and there will be a glass top on tank. Now, besides test kits, refractometer, etc., is this good to go? Thanks for any input Link to comment
AReeferIsExpensive
sounds great. Youll probably end up with a skimmer. Dont forget a heater, good water source and thermometer. You can add a polyfilter or some chemipure to put in the whisper...they both work great. Oh yea..and a magfloat Link to comment
Cesar
The lights are very good. Do you know if that Whisper has bio-Wheels? If they do, make sure you get rid of them. Link to comment
DiYeti
No, the Whisper doesn't have a bio-wheel, just the little poly bag that you put charcoal in. I thought I'd eliminate it entirely. I do have the proper heater and thermometer, and plan to get a refractometer (might as well go whole-hog as I plan to do a bigger reef later.) With this small a set-up and having very hard water in this area, I think I'll be better off just buying distilled water to use for my mix. Thanks for the input Link to comment
