ReeFer247
ok so like i said in a previous thread i bought a pair of firefish. i watched them for about a month at the lfs their was 3 , 2 started off the same size and one was very large so no one has purchased any of them and they are extreeeemly healthy so one of the two smaller ones was starting to get a little bigger/thicker so i finally broke down and bought them. well they found a hiding place in the rock work (made like 20 caves for them ) and they chose one i didnt make lol in the bottom left of the tank where glass meets rock. so anyways ive had them for a few days and they seem to be extremely paired they nudge so close that it looks like a 2 headed firefish and the larger of the 2 will come out of hidding make sure its safe or time to eat and then hurry back and get the other one. they arent shy and love to come out and swim any time im near.. but are always together.. im hoping i got a young pair and i could get them to breed.. so any input on whats going on here is this how 2 firefish act together male/female or male/male female/female or do they have something special going on.. lol no other fish in tank only 3 shrimp and a couple snails/hermits lots of coral and rock see signature for details (not updated add 2 firefish and a cleaner skunk shrimp) thanks mike Link to comment
Travis
Are Fish Fish like Clownfish, in that they are born with out haveing a gender, then later mature and the larger, more dominant of the pair becomes female and the other male, or is it a hit or miss ordeal? Link to comment

bobioden
I also had 2 for about 4 months. They always swam together, slept in the same hole and I too thought they were a pair. Little by little the larger one started harrassing the smaller one. Would not let it eat, and constantly chased it back in hiding every time it came out of the hole. The smaller one eventually passed away, the larger lived for a year, before finally comitting fishy suicide and jumping out of the tank. I hope you have a pair, but all I have read either one or a group are recommend for a tank. The reason I bought 2 was the LFS I got them from gave me bad advice. Bob Link to comment
