He custom built the wave system. I guess it wouldn't cost that much considering it's mostly plastic plumbing and a pump. But you got to have the DIY skills to make that thing. Link to comment

He has some kind of reservoir on his 2nd floor balcony. It slowly pumps up water from his 1st floor tank. Every 10 minutes or so, the reservoir fills up and then releases a grip load of water down the pipes into his tank. So, as you sit there watching his beautiful tank, a huge tidal wave just surges through every 10 minutes or so. All of his coral and fish seem to love it! It's quite a sight to witness.
