ProReefer
What would happen to my reef if I put a regular 75 watt natural daylight house bulb over it? It it be bad to do it? Link to comment
Physh1
Are you talking about an incandescent bulb? No way.....nowhere near enought to keep a reef. What size tank? You'll really need something much better....can you offer up some more info on your plans? Cameron Link to comment

nalbar
if you insist on this route get one of those screw in flourescent 'twisty' bulbs. they even come in 10000k. by going this route you limit what you can keep. but zoo's, mushrooms, and ricordias will do ok under the 'twisty's'. you can always upgrade later anyway. nalbar Link to comment
phergus_25
incadesent is no god, but you can get crewin PC's that have a Krating of 6500K or 10K so look for those Link to comment

bugsy
ProReefer, I have an incandescent hood. I bought the coralife 20 watt 50/50 10,000k screw in flourescent bulbs. They are like the twisty ones but more of a longer rather than twisty bulb. These are just great. I have mushrooms galore, huge feather duster, xenia. The only thing with my xenia is I have had to place it higher up to to the light. But these are great, they give you the right color of light for a mini reef as well. The regular twisty ones I found give to much of a yellow hue but would work to i guess. Put one in each side. But don't expect to grow anemones or anything that requires special lights. Things like nalbar suggested are just fine with these types of lights. good luck....bugsy Link to comment
