Adding a powerhead

I have a 56l tank that is still rather new, just under the 3 month mark. I'm thinking of shaking up the flow in the tank.

This is the tank at the moment, excuse the various algae and bacteria problems. All a work in progress.

My current flow setup is a AI Nero3 going at 5,000 lph. I have it set on pulse, 5 seconds on, 1 second off.

On the other side of the tank, I have the outlet for my fluval 7 canister filter, which is 500 lph.

I'm thinking of adding another AI Nero 3 to the setup.

Now, is this going to be overkill for a nano tank?

If I add another powerhead, what kind of settings should I use? Should I have them both constantly crashing againt 1 another or have some sort of pulse going?

What kind of lph should I run them at?

I appreciate any feedback.

I don’t think it would hurt anything to add another one. Worst case scenario you can turn them both down. There’s a “parent/child” setting for these where you can adjust the “phase” setting to make them run opposite of each other on the same setting. There’s a bunch of YouTube videos that will explain it much better than a wall of text on here. I always use the “random/reefcrest” setting no matter what brand powerhead I have. I can tell you this. With the picture you posted if you mount them like that. You’ll get a nice circular flow going through your entire tank. I doubt you’ll have any dead spots and it’ll probably nicely keep any detritus suspended in the water column and going into your filtration. I like it, looks like a good plan.
