Rickc
New to reefing, I have a 60 litre nano tank and finished my cycle, I purchased live rock when setting up and have noticed this throughout. My understanding is that it’s a pest and I need to get rid of it before introducing coral? I introduced 2 peppermint shrimps today in hope that they will rid me of it in a week or so but to be honest I’m unsure if this will be enough? any guidance would be appreciated! mitten_reef
first of all, you can add corals. but it'll make it a bit harder to maintain/control the pests. the best way to control pest is to not introduce them in the first place, observe and clean your rocks/frags whenever possible. I'd recommend pulling out the rock and chip off any big ones that are easily accessible, and hope the shrimp gets to the rest. this is also a good time to test the shrimp appetite for aiptasia, just starve them for a few days. there are a few species of shrimp that all look a lot like peppermint, and some of them don't eat aiptasia. once they learn they need to forage for food, they should get after it. if you have fish, don't overfeed them so the shrimp don't get the extra. The pests were solely on 1 small rock as you can see in the image, I removed the rock. and iv got my shrimp so hopefully it should be as easy as that right!? Quote Link to comment

If the shrimp don't work, you could consider introducing other Aiptasia-eating species, like a Berghia nudibranch, though they can be sensitive in nano tanks. Personal statements can be challenging to write, but academized.com/buy-personal-statement-online made the process so much easier. The writer crafted a compelling and well-organized statement that highlighted my strengths and experiences. It was exactly what I needed to make my application stand out. The service was professional, and the final product was delivered on time. I highly recommend this service for anyone who needs help with personal statements.
