Frugal Aquarist
Hello Nano-Reef community, I have a question for the experienced reefers here—what fish would be a good fit for my pico reef? My tank is 25x20x15 cm (around 7.5 liters), and after a month of careful nurturing, I’m seeing some life and growth. Tank Setup & Skip-Cycling Approach: I used the skip-cycling method, starting with live rock and live sand right away. This allowed me to introduce hardy corals shortly after setting up the tank. The environment seems stable, and I’ve been fine-tuning water flow and lighting since then. What I’ve Learned So Far: Being new to the hobby, I’ve learned a lot in a short time. The skip-cycling method gave me a quick start, but it also required close monitoring of water parameters and maintenance. Patience and consistency have definitely been key! Future Plans: I’m thinking of adding a small fish, along with more corals, but I want to make sure it’s the right choice for my tank size. Any suggestions on suitable fish for my pico reef would be much appreciated! If you’re interested in seeing more of my pico reef journey, I’ve documented the process in my YouTube series.
