if you went this way, you would be into external overflow to remote sump $. or HOB filtration ( generally not as efficient as AIO rear sump, that would come with a pump and spot for filter and bio media's.)

just some more considerations.

ok so could i make up for it with more gallons per hour filtration?  Also im thinking an orbit marine nano led system would be in order for the 10 gallon.

see if you can search the tank you are interested in on this forum and see what others have done to be successful with there setup.

best way to get some first hand knowledge on what may or may not work.

the fluval evo 5 gal is a nice compact peninsula style option that comes with everything except heater, and has good filtration.

and may not get you in trouble with housing.

good for a shrimp and goby combo, and the light will grow coral if you wish.

changed my mind going with the jbj 12 nano tank with lights and skimmer and filter.

sounds like a solid choice with room for growth.

once you get it, start a journal thread to log your journey, and post photos.

if you have not checked it out, these guys post some great videos. don't get caught up in the product hype. but they do some great test and research on setting up new tanks.

I highly recommend.
