fxtphoto
Hi all, I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. I'm approaching my late 40s and have had some type of fish tank since I was born 1977. My father bred tropical FW fish and wanted me to have a tank next to my crib. 😁 Anyhow... fast forward to late 1990s I was able to get into saltwater. I bought a used 75 gal off a friend who had it set up as a softy tank. Mostly mushrooms. I kept it going but slowly morphed it into a mixed tank. Kept it running for years. At some point I got interested in trying out what i walled a nano, a 1 gal. tank. Yes, a 1 gallon tank. Both were going great until a tropical storm came through and left the area without power for 6+ days (I want to say 2006, but don't quote me 😜) That wiped out both tanks and I opted to cut my losses and get out of the hobby. Though I kept my 75 tank and custom built sump. Around 2015, my son wanted a fish tank. Ended up getting him a fluval edge 6gal and set it up as a planted FW tank. Life was busy and the tank ended up becoming more of a nuance then fun and I ended up tearing it down. That brings me to today. I have more time, space and I'm ready to get back on the horse. Still having the 6 gal edge (and my 75), I have decided to set up the 6gal. (With the thought of expanding to the 75 (or bigger) down the road... The hobby has certainly changed over the years from when I was last involved with it, so I'm looking forward to learning a lot of new techniques that have been developed over the past two decades. 🤣🤯 In any event, thanks for reading my long-winded introduction and I look forward to virtually meeting everyone. 5 Quote Link to comment
The Rainy Day Aquarium
Welcome to Nano-Reef, looking forward to how your 6 gallon comes along (pretty cool that you've kept your 75 after all these years). Quote Link to comment
