Does anyone have any opinion on the Innovative NUVO Roller vs. filter socks?

I would prefer not to use either but I have a lot of 'dog' detritus (hair) that floats in the air. I have to have that surface skimming. The socks seem expensive and the roller may save me money.

Maybe I should just be using the filter tray with floss? I have not used floss before. What is the proper product to use? It seems like it would be a lot less expensive.

Honestly, keeping dust out is a(nother) really good argument for putting a glass lid (or similar) on the tank.  "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" after all. 😉

I can't seem to wash them and get all of the nasty out of the bottom. I am using my sink sprayer with hot water. I wish you could flip them inside out.

Use filter floss!!!!!!!!! I dislike anything I have to clean and find floss A TON easier to use (stuff it, wait until it looks dirty, trash it and replace) and it lasts forever!

Here's a link to a pretty decent size bag for $5 on amazon: and if you enjoy it, the provide it in POUNDS too (you'll basically be your own "build a bear" facility)

Just to provide you another option, I've heard of people using socks and just throwing some floss in the bottom. I've never used this method as it still might be annoying to clean the sock, BUT it sounds like it might help with your issue of crap getting stuck in the bottom of the sock

I flip mine inside out, rinse and squeeze out, drop in a pail of water and bleach, on the weekend wash in machine (water only, extra rinse) then back in a pail of water with seachem prime to kill off any chlorine left over. ( then dry the next day )

i use the Red Sea felt bags and the nylons some times, ( nylon being easier to clean and flip inside out. But let’s not start the nylon vs felt  battle. )

easy peasy……

albeit not the highlight of reefing…..😎
