nm07
Hi all, Today I noticed one of my nassarius snails had extended a very long tube out of the front, which it appeared to be touching / going into the back of its body. I'm used to seeing its antenna sticking out vertically, but this is much longer and has me concerned and confused. It is some sort of worm / parasite, or is it just a very long mouth or something along those lines? If anyone knows and could put my mind at rest, I'd really appreciate it. Kind Regards, Benjamin. nm07
Further research has found that this appears to be their proboscis (mouth). I had no idea it was so long! Panic over. 2 Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
I will say that's a bit of a peculiar move. But yeah, their snout is a lot like an elephant's. Quote Link to comment
