Bendegeit
We've had our 13 gallon nano reef tank for just over 1-1/2 years. Water is stable, coral are stable and growing, but in spite of our best efforts we seem to lose a critter every 1 - 2 months. We bought this brittle star 6 to 7 months ago, each tentacle measuring 3-4 inches. The other night I get home and the poor thing is in the corner of the tank like it's been chased there with each tentacle chopped down to between 1 and 1.5 inches. Currently, besides corals and a handful of snails, the only other known creatures in this tank are a clown, a cleaner shrimp, and a smallish hermit crab. I immediately suspected the crab but I'm pretty sure its claws can't open half as wide as needed to do these clean cuts. Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
Could be disintegrating from (e.g.) some kind of bad change in water chemistry. How is it today? Quote Link to comment
