mark.payton
Hello, I’ve developed a red slime on the bed of my tank. I’ve used chemiclean and changed out 20% of the water. I’ve tested water parameters (below) and will do a 1/3 water change today. Any other suggestions? Water: ph-8.0 Amonia-0.25 Nitrite-0 Nitrate-0 Salinity-1.027 Calcium-360 ppm Quote Link to comment
Sturgi_0225
Cyno bacteria bloom I’d guess. It can be from a few different contributors. if you Google search it you can see what the possible contributors are and compare to your tank. Quote Link to comment
Sturgi_0225
I also saw in another post your bta wasn’t happy, have you by chance been doing some extra feeding for it and the excess nutrients are a contributing factor for the sudden outbreak? How’s your tanks flow? Do you run a protein skimmer? Are you using rodi or tap water for water changes? How often are you doing water changes? Do you vacuum the sand for the water changes or just pull from the water column? Quote Link to comment
mark.payton
Here’s a pic from today of my Bta. I have two power heads, no protein skimmer. I way distilled water for top off and purchased salt water for changes. Normally I don’t vacuum the sand but will start doing that. I try and do water changes at least every 2 weeks, sometimes a little longer. Quote Link to comment
