KenaiReef
I'm setting up a 1.5 gallon pico tank. Kinda stumped on how to plumb a drain system. I'm tying it into a sump. All of the overflow boxes I see are rated for 10+ gallon tanks or a minimum of 400gph. I'm thinking just a 1/2" bulkhead with a screen cap over it, draining into a 1/2" pipe with a gate valve for control. Is this a bad idea or is there a pre-designed "pico overflow box"? Will you be drilling the tank? Is this an acrylic tank? Glass panes on a tank that small might be too thin to drill. A 1/2" bulkhead and drain pipe should be sufficient. I don't think you'd want a valve on the drain (unless you have an emergency drain). You might want a valve on the return line to fine tune the flow. 2 Quote Link to comment
