This is my first post but im having an algae issue and want to know what type it is. I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 clownfish. Currently my phosphate and nitrates are at zero and there is some algae that coats my corals and it seems as if it is preventing them from opening up. The algae appears reddish brown under atinic lightning. Thank you any help is appreciated

The slime like texture would suggest it could be a species of dinoflagellates rather than algae.

Having nitrates and phosphates at zero can be a cause.

You can either use a microscope to check or search for ‘dinos coffee filter test’ on the web and it will bring up a handy way to check to confirm if it is dinos or not.
