DiaryReef
Why is my water evaporating so fast, It’s hard to keep up with it Quote Link to comment
Travis442
What’s the temperature in the room, temp of the water? Is there a lot of surface movement? All of these things contribute to water evaporation. Quote Link to comment

All variables in how fast your water evaporates. Evap rate can vary throughout the year because of these variables fluctuating. 1 Quote Link to comment
jservedio
Get an ATO and never worry about it again - in some locations with a topless tank it's basically a requirement. You can see evaporation from just a cup or less per day in a typical nano if humidity is high and its covered all the way up to several gallons per day if you have extremely low humidity and no lid. Evaporation rate will have no effect on your tank so long as you keep up with it. We had a flood from a burst pipe and with the drying equipment I was going through almost 3 gallons per day on just a 20g tank, so it's possible to get really high! 1 Quote Link to comment
patback
During the humid summer we go through maybe a cup or cup and a half per day. Winter, we can hit almost a gallon per day. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ohmegg
I just put a lid over mine. Never do water top off. Run bubbles at night to refresh the 02. Quote Link to comment
