DevilDuck
I just heard of this thing called a RIP Clean basically pulling out the sandbed, rinsing it in tap water until it runs clear, and returning it to the tank. Anyone done this or some variation of it for dinos or algae? Quote Link to comment
Chaozu
When I had dinos on my 10 gallon what I did was blow the sand bed and rocks so the dinos are free floating, had a layers of fine filter media to collect them on, replace media hourly and repeat. Got rid dinos completely in a day. You could possibly remove the sand bed and clean it with tap water but make sure you also rinse with fresh salt water after since you don’t know what’s in the tap. Murphs_Reef
I did it for cyano a few months ago and worked really good.. but that reduces / removes nutrients, detritus and general funk locked in the sandbed. So it maybe counter productive in your case? 1 Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Its counter productive to do a rip clean for dino as you will lose a lot of biodiversity which is one of the main causes for dino to become an issue in tje first place. Many have tried it. Some even tore down their tanks and completely cleaned it to still end up with it - why, because too sterile a tank is the perfect environment for dino 1 1 Quote Link to comment
