AIO cube 27L : experimental tank

Thanks!

Love how fluffy they get when happy.

I am trying to keep a regular maintenance at the moment (ATO pump is malfunctioning, new sand means ugly things growing). Having a small tank really helps, 5 min of maintenance in the evening and everything is back on track.

I got myself an early Christmas gift, should arrive next week and add a lot more colors to the tank.

Well they forgot to put a heating pocket in my order...water was around 16°C when I opened it.

Corals have survived the near death experience, the gobiodon did not 😞

I can only hope it did not suffer.

I will try to find the best place for each coral in the next week, before gluing some.

I have been working from home this week, and I must admit the view is pretty nice from my desk.

The zoas are back to be fully opened (I was struggling with dino or whatever those things were on my Sand, rocks, corals).

The recently added acan seems to enjoy its new home too.

I took davantage of some sales and added

  • 2 bubble tips nem : the green one is way bigger than I expected.
  • 1 porcelaine crab
  • 1 zoa
  • 1 montipora

I hesitated for some time with nems. But I missed my previous ones and the clown was clearly trying to host something lately.

Took him like 3 hours to start hosting the reddish nem.

I had to move the wavemaker to avoid any disaster and of course that big and beautiful green nem decided to face the black wall.

Anyway everything looks happy for the moment.

Might move the SPS on the top of the rock.

I'm from France, I ordered from recifathome. They have some nice specimens and decent prices.

Love recifathome. It look like their anemones are as good as their corals 👍.

Some update : the nems decided to go on a rampage two weeks ago, then they threw themselves in the wavemaker.

It went from a perfectly fine tank to a monstruous white soup...

Anyway, some corals survived, the clown too and maintenance is back on track. I hope the euphyllias recover soon.

After a good feeding session, both euphyllias seem happier. I glued them on the top, as I initially planned.

I think things will be back to normal in a week or two.

The green euphyllia is still looking a bit sad, the goniopora is acting dead as usual (but it's not).

I decided to feed the tank more often. Two too three times a week (I also feed the clown 5 or 6 times a week).

I used to make 10% water change a week on my 20g while i'm around 40% on this tank. So the water might be a bit "too clean" (I'm not testing anything, nor planning to).

Watching this guy feeding is something :

I hope to get both euphyllias back to normal soin, at least they are eating like pigs.

A little explanation

  • this is the sand from the previous setup
  • the rocks are cycling
  • all the corals, invertebrates and the clown are now discovering the immensity if a 25g gallon peninsula waterbox aquarium.

The rocks will end up in the peninsula (which looks a bit empty at the moment), and the cube will be devoted to frags / growing. I plan on keeping in the peninsula only corals I enjoy the most in termes of colors.

I kinda like the rocks just as they are, but i have a few weeks ahead of me to decide the final rockscape in the peninsula.

Current state of the tank :

I will keep stirring up the sand for a few weeks, there are a lot of things stille trapped in it.

This tank purpose is to grow out frags, but lately I'm thinking I could add some nice little things in it as well, like a spikefin goby and some sexy shrimps. It woul make it much more interesting to look at.

I've got time anyway, because right now my focus is on the 25g tank, which is slowly taking form.

Thanks!

Finally started the new journal for the 25g, here :

The state of the cube is still very clean. I love how simple it is to take care of at the moment.

  • gen changed the title to AIO cube 27L : experimental tank

The tank being mostly empty at the moment, I plan on using it to experiment on some of my corals to see how they react to feeding.

I m mostly thinking about zoas and euphyllias, and may be goniopora (I have a surviving frag)
