MSunkin23
Was time to upgrade from the Biocube 16, and slowly starting up an IM Nuvo 20. I noticed some upgrades since some reviews I saw online. Lid no longer has clips, it sits flush on the glass. One filter sock, and one media rack that seems more than sufficient. So far just cycling with Sand and dry BRS rock. Dosing ammonia and seeding from the Biocube. Running 1 AI prime HD and seems to have great coverage. Designed the rock work to limit shadowing. The IM tanks live up to their name. The silicone work is top notch and it’s surprising how much that matters. Pumped to get this thing scaled up. 7 Quote Link to comment

travoose
Looks awesome! I recently bought the 20 as an upgrade when I move houses in a few months, figured might as well get a bigger tank since I will be moving it anyway. Quote Link to comment
MSunkin23
Was time to add this fella. Still spooked but eating. strange thing with the cycle, took about a month but never got high levels of nitrate. 40ppm Max, but would go to zero after a day or two. There is either a nitrate sink somewhere, or bacteria converting to N2 gas. 3 Quote Link to comment
MSunkin23
About 45 days in. Just running the tank with low lights and threw in a GSP and hermit crab. Only the one fish in there (tailspot blenny). The thing hides a lot, dug a cave for himself but does come out to eat. The JBJ nano ATO is working well, using a plastic cereal container as the reservoir (1.5gal) lasts about 5 days. 5 Quote Link to comment
MSunkin23
Moved some livestock to the new tank. Its nice to be able to run the AI prime at 10% to keep the lights on and algae at bay. Plan to stay like this for a couple of months until bio filtration ramps up. Corals still in other tank besides GSP. 3 1 Quote Link to comment

MSunkin23
Thanks, I think one is a Mocha Clown, dont know the other one. Still playing with the rockwork, thanks! Everything running smooth since transfer. Running a bag of carbon and will be dropping some chemi-pure elite in soon too. 2 Quote Link to comment
MSunkin23
Still keeping the IM20 as FOWLR, besides some GSP. Its allowing me to keep the tank at ~10% light output with the AI prime which is enough to see the fish, and scale up the biofiltration. Im convinced this strategy is going to yield a more stable system when I transfer in my corals. I started running chemi-pure elite and additional carbon. Also bought a new RO Buddie DI system because previous was 3yrs old (probably not good hahah) TSB rocks as a fish, surprised how much he swims around. 3 Quote Link to comment

Cool that he swims around a lot too!! 1 Quote Link to comment
MSunkin23
Alrighty, Corals are moved over to the IM20 from the Biocube 16. Everything seems to be acclimating. The hammer coral wasnt doing great to begin with so hope for a comeback. Gonna let things settle for a bit before I start the super glue party. 2 Quote Link to comment
MSunkin23
Tank has hit 4mos old and running very stable. All corals seemed to have taken the transfer well and now ramping up the AI Prime intensity. Weekly-ish 20% water changes. 2 Quote Link to comment
MSunkin23
Wow, been a while since an update. Everything is running great. Doing bi-weekly water changes of 5gal. Perhaps if i upped that, the cyano on the sand would fall back. Some photos, but need to do some work on a proper tank shoot. 2 Quote Link to comment
MSunkin23
Been quite some time since an update. Tank has been steady and running. Biggest issue is fighting with the ATO. 1 Quote Link to comment

I use the JBJ nano and every once in a while the ATO wont trigger in time and when it does it doesnt fill to the minimum level. This causes the sensor to blink red and not pump any more (fail safe i think) I cleaned the optical sensor last week and only had the malfunction once, so we will see if that fixes it. Also, the pump for the JBJ stopped working recently, but JBJ sent a replacement so that part is resolved. M 1 Quote Link to comment
