Tank is happily ticking along! A few deaths here and there, but for the first time ever I can see growth on almost all my sps frags. Mission accomplished! Now we let it grow in 🙂

PS; this light is awesome!

Also grabbed myself a used Reef octopus 110int for $30. Despite being AC, this thing is 10x quieter than my "DC" bubble magus.. not to mention its been skimming so much more consistently this past week. Not bad!

Thanks! If you look at it from the side, there's 3 or 4 distinct layers of it now.. it gets heavy, falls off from a crab/flow then just grows back on top of the rest. There's flakes of it everywhere in my tank at this point

So apparently hermit crabs will eat coralline algae. I have never kept them in my tank previously due to their tendency to piss of my lps, but last month I purchased ~30 red/blue legs to combat hair algae. They worked great but my coralline on the walls has started to dwindle.. no changes in water chemistry either

Merry Christmas all! Hope your tanks are doing better than mine is now LOL

Due to my lack of attention when switching from 2 part to kalk slurry, I let my alk drop a little too fast (-2dkh over 48h) and most of my acros are dead/dying now.

Other than that all lps/softies are growing great

After the past 2 weeks seeing all my sps die, I’ve decided to rescape the tank and start fresh. Going to take it a bit slower this time.. not giving up on acropora just yet

I have one but I rarely see it! Mine only seems to come out at night sadly lol. The LFS I work at also rarely brings them in unfortunately. Super cool creatures!

Today is my lucky day. Grabbed a rs250 from a fellow reefer who’s moving at no cost to me, just had to move this giant hunk!

Don’t think I have it in me to transfer my tank into this one, so stay tuned to see if it goes anywhere!

Still struggling to keep anything other than softies for whatever reason, but just been letting it ride. It’s no fun seeing an empty tank but I have 3 others to occupy me until it recovers… that’s all for now

I could use some advice. My parameters:

- Sg 1.025 (hanna)

- Temp 77-78f

- Alk- 6.9 (hanna)

- Calc - 430 (salifert)

- no3 - 25 (salifert)

- po4 - .25 (salifert)

I can't seem to keep sps or really any stony coral alive anymore. Not even easy lps. Lighting is still the neptune sky on a custom schedule at 25% intensity for 10hrs a day. I still do 5g water change weekly on a ~35g system

Any advice? Do you think the gorgs and softies are producing toxins? I've never thought it could be an issue.
