Cyano or Dino?

Recommended Posts

I have this brown slimy algae growing over the last few days in my aquarium. My corals seems to be a bit irritated by this. Is it possible to identify this? I will try to do a water change today.

Looks like dino but visual identification isn't always enough.

Nutrient levels are a big issue with dino's, doing the jar test(for confirmation of dino)

under microscope is best because the strain of dino is important to know in order to get rid of it.

LOOKS LIKE DINO, BECAUSE MY TANK HAS CYANO AND IT IS DIFFERENT THAN THAT!

What happened in the jar test?

How did you do the test?

I took some sludge along with the water. Shook the jar and strained the water into another container using paper towel. Kept the container out in the sun. In the evening when I checked, the water had not changed color nor could I see any algae.
