Eventually gave him away to someone with a much larger system. I was close to picking up a cleaner shrimp at the same time as the urchin but they all looked too small so decided against it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Kayman
Nothing new to report. My two acros still aren't showing any real polyp extentsion but all my parameters have been pretty steady. My alk has moved between 8.1 and 8.3 for the last 2 weeks so hopefully they perk up a bit soon. My parents came over for dinner yesterday and my dad took this nice picture of the tank. Hope you all had a nice weekend! 2 Quote Link to comment
Kayman
Well my tank survived a week long vacation with really no issue thankfully. My two acros don't seem to be doing well and are pretty pale/bleached so might just move on from that idea and go more softies. My parameters seem to hold steady but I am struggling to get nitrates up so I've really upped my feeding as of late. A picture of the not so happy acros. After vacation I also picked up 2 baby clowns and a nice rock of hairy mushrooms with a cool tunicate on it. I also got a freak hair pavona coral. So far this week the tank has been looking really good overall. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Kayman
Picked up an ICP test and was doing all my tests today to compare to what their results are. I guess at some point in the last few days my dosing pump had come unplugged and so my alk was down to 6.7 so that's not going to help the acros! Going to wait to send the ICP test in now until I get my levels back to normal on my tests. It's always something.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Kayman
Got my levels back in order now and so sending out the ICP test tomorrow. I also picked up some NeoNitro and NeoPhos to try and bump levels up a bit, mostly nitrate. Here are today's measurements, we shall see how they compare to the ICP. Happy with everything other than nitrates. Salinity: 1.026 Temp: 78.3 Nitrates: .02 (basically 0) Phosphate: .05 Alk: 7.3 Calcium: 410 Magnesium: 1410 Also I have problems... Kayman
Got my ICP test results back. Not 100% sure how to read them but seems like my Alk, Salinity, Nitrate and Phosphate are all lower than I thought if I am reading this correctly. Kayman
Anyone else's rock flowers seem to always looking like they are about to prolapse? Ha mine seem healthy, don't move, open up plenty but always look like this. I also won this octo over the weekend in an auction. My LFS does biweekly auctions and I don't think this is going to be good for my wallet... 1 Quote Link to comment
Kayman
I feel like I've been doing too many things to the tank lately. I'm now dosing phosphates, nitrates, aminos, red sea AB+, and red sea trace elements. All these are pretty new in the last 2 months so I have decided to kind of ignore the tank for a bit. I did a waterchange on Sunday and am planning on not really touching anything until the end of April. Hopefully this will help corals settle in and start looking a bit better. We shall see! 3 Quote Link to comment
Kayman
Welp I failed my plan... While drinking some wine with the wife I saw my local shop had a nice blue Alveopora which I had been looking to try since Gonipora has failed in the last. Next thing I know I bought it online and the next day went to pick it up. While there of course I also bought a lobo and a feather deaster...doh! The lobo sadly has looked like shit and like it's not going to make it for some reason, maybe too much shipping stress lately 🤷♂️ My acros have started coloring back up from being almost totally white too so that's some good news! 1 Quote Link to comment
