So the light I bought second hand was broken. I pulled the light apart after it refused to turn on (it had a red light which means thermal overheat) I found that the motherboard was completely covered in salt and corroded . I went to my lfs to tell them what happened and to see if they knew what to do. We ended up deciding that I would buy a brand new ai prime 16hd (broken one was only a HD) and that they would send the broken one of to the office in Australia and see if it can be fixed. Other than that the tank is going really good. The 5 dollar coral is blue and green (4th photo) so if u know what it is could you please tell me. Also keep in mind that some of these pictures were taken under the original light and that the 5 dollar one and the pocillopora went into my 20 gallon

It feels like it has been ages since I updated this. Today I noticed just how fast some zoas can grow because yesterday i saw 1 new head and today another one that was not there before. The tank is beginning to look really good and who knew that you could get some really nice zoas from the cheap section.

Another week has nearly gone by. I was at school camp for half of it whilst my parents fed my tanks. They still look amazing. My pico reef has a bunch of gha on the sand bed and I am unsure on how to get rid of it. I will also attach a video of the tank below.

Today I bought a small Goni for the tank. I will take pictures of it once it fully comes out. I all so picked up 7 snails for the pico and a elegance for my 20 gallon after my last one died. I got 4 turbos, 2 money cowries and 1 trochus.

Here are the pictures of the new corals. The Goni has not come out like all the other ones I have seen do u think it is just a short stemmed gonni or maybe it just needs time to adjust. It was not open in the shop either. The tank is looking really colourful and the snails are already doing a good job 👍.

Just reading through this thread again has made me want to set up a improved version of this tank. It is not feasible though as I don’t have anywhere to put it next to my new tank so it will just have to sit in the shed gathering dust until I find something to do with it. I all so want to add that when I took it down last year the silicone around the pipe at the base of the tank had nearly broken.

how far is your pico tank from your 20 gal?  That GSP is really nice, can't wait to see it when it really fills out!  I like the goni too.

I took it down last year when I upgraded my 20 gallon to a 55 gallon. The tank was probably 15-30cm away from the 20 gallon.

Thanks. Has had its fair share of difficulty’s

It happens.  My tank has had it's ups and downs over the past 22 yrs as well.  One crash I lost all my LPS, A 4 hour drive when we moved, again I lost all my LPS and most recently a bad light in my hood and I lost a toadstool I had from my original tank (22 yrs ago). And more recently ALGAE of all kinds.  It can be heart breaking, but when it goes good it's sooooo worth it!!
