Broseff
I got some coral and did a peroxide dip. I mixed a very small amount of peroxide with tank water (like 1:6) for the dip. The xenia was pulsing during the dip, but now it looks like it's falling apart. It's been like a year since I've kept corals, and I used to do use kinds of dips and never had this issue. Did I mess the dip up? Are soft corals less tolerant to dips? Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Peroxide dips don't work for all corals. Most of us dip our corals but not usually in peroxide Quote Link to comment

DevilDuck
Xenias and most corals hate peroxide, you may have killed the frag. The only thing I've found you can dip in peroxide are zoas. Everything else use a proper coral dip, like Revive or CoralRx, these will not kill algae but will make pests drop off the coral. You'll want to change your frag source to one that has less algae or you can remove as much as possible and let your clean up crew deal with the rest. Quote Link to comment

Hard to spot treat when it's so inner mixed with the coral. 56 minutes ago, DevilDuck said: Xenias and most corals hate peroxide, you may have killed the frag. All the lfs near me have gross looking setups. Quote Link to comment

The first few frags I ever bought had were covered with a forest of hair algae. Took an hour to tweeze out all I could. If I had known better back then I would have just popped the frags off the plug. I ended up dipping the zoas in 50/50 peroxide because the algae was between every polyp. Some how my hermits and snails cleared the rest. Xenia is the only exception once it takes off will out grow the hair algae. 1 Quote Link to comment
