Aquasd screwed up my order all 3 ricordia are wrong...the orange one has a teal center with many mouths not a single mouth with purple center I actualy saw the one they sent me on on another listing I recognize it and the multi color one is green and yellow with blue green center on a totaly difrent frag plug than pictured with no orange on it at all especialy in the center.....I also saw that one on a separate listing not happy right now....and my email is screwing up tried 5 times to send a message with all 3 pics to them would only let me send one at a time...oh well they got like 5 messages... maby I can get partial refund...still doubt get the coral I wanted and I realy wanted those two...last one it's not even close to orange its green...ugggggg I even tried photo manipulation to see if I could make the last one look the same because the shape and frag plug are very simmilar but I cant. Also.the anemone crab is super super tiny not active and missing a claw that's not in the bag so I know it came like that. The acan has receded tissue in sevral places COULD be shipping stress related....maby I'll give them that...and looking at the color and size if the receded tissue that's being generous and I found a zoa eating nudi on my zoa frag....seriously not happy with them rn. Looks like they are having quality controll problems.

What I got.

What I got... note the receded areas this dosnt look fresh to me. This appears to be more than a coral retracted from shipping. It is alive and the same coral I ordered just not the condition I expected. I'm sure they will wright this off as shipping related.

My consolation prize a montipora freebie that was desentagrating in the bag.

The more I look at this mess the madder I get.

Finaly got a reply not that it was worth much......2 of the rics were "upgraded" with "similarly" colored ones with more mouths due to the originals basicly wandering off and getting lost. The third one the green that should have been orange was a mistake and they dont know what happened literaly just sent the wrong one. So im getting a store credit for the mistake one and nothing for the other two....so basicly * random rude gesture* me and I get nothing good out of it. The rics wandered off the plugs and got lost so no way to get them either. I told them about the half dead monti, receaded acan, small missing limb anemone crab and zoa eating nudi in the reply. Probly gona poo poo that off too.

Geez, that sucks all around. This is why I'm afraid to order any marine livestock online - my country finally has a few online vendors pop up here and there during the pandemic (at exorbitant prices, no less), but I still prefer going directly to the LFS to pick out my frags. I understand that's not always possible in larger countries, but still - to screw up literally everything in an order - that's quite messed up. 😞

Hope you do get some store credit for the rest.

The green-rimmed yellow ric does look reasonably nice to me though. Maybe it might color up a bit more in time. The melted acan *might still pull through (I hope it does!). Don't give up. 🌺

Not sure how I missed this tank, is absolutely amazing!

Aquasd for me was very hit and miss. The lps I ordered were spot on, however, both mini maxi I had ordered clearly had a ton of photo manipulation and their actual colors were way off.

Link to comment

I find reds are the most often manipulated color on sites. Most sites tend to do it here in the US. Im sure it's the same in other countries. Here in the states I know Unique corals is realy bad about the reds. A good thing is taking a screen shot of a coral you are I trested in putting it in a photo editor the one on.the phone works and toning down the contrast and what not. It gives you a better idea of how it actualy looks in real life. Then you won't be nearly as disappointed if it arrives bright green instead of ultra lime neon green. Or redish instead of blood red.

Going from obviously orange to obviously green tho is a bit of a stretch. Atleast they admitted that was the wrong coral someone grabbed by mistake with a simmilar plug and simmilar shape to the one ordered.

Austin aquafarm dosnt seem to use nearly as much photo manipulation as other places. Acans zoas and lps have arrived looking just like the photo in most cases

I think they make there trachs and scollys brighter but otherwise they are mostly the same.

I dont think.salt critters manipulates theres but I dont think they use color filters on there photos the pictures are usualy very blue windex looking and it's sometimes hard to tell what the coral realy looks like.

Sunny corals disnt use a ton of manipulation. Corals anonymous and lucky corals uses quite a bit but not to the degree of aqua sd. Zoanthids.com is fairly acurate photos are taken under blues with filters to make them pop but the corals I recived looked like what was pictures.

Damn your tank looks fantastic!

I find that a lot of internet vendors are hit or miss almost all of them aggressively enhance their photos.

Recently had a bad experience with Coral Anonymous, but after a few email exchanges they made it right.

Do you dip your corals? With early tissue recession, a dip in some iodine based dip, like Seachem's or Lugol's iodine will help them heal. Sometimes you have to repeat the dip 3-4 times.

Zoa's are pretty bullet proof, I dip them in 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and then rinse them in freshwater with no issues as long as they are all closed before you put them in the dip.

Acan lords are pretty hardy in my tank, I feed them heavily and they will grow fast.

The acan was starting to puff up a bit last night I think good feeding and light should help it. I have a nice pile of acans growing now they all look good some of them grew back from skeletons I thought were dead. I have alot more to work with on that one. I did peroxide dip with a freshwater rinse/toothbrush scrub on the zoas.

I use seachem iodine.

Mine would grow faster if I fed more honestly.

Melting Monti actualy had polyps showing this morning starting to think it wont die...
The new acan is looking alot better. I have been fighting asterinas that have been feasting on my zoas and have made a huge dent in my colonys. I pulled 8 more stars out disappearance of zoas has slowed significantly now that I started eradicating them. I lost about half my speckled fire and ice all of my bam bam and almost all of my fruit loops They seemed to focus on those and some no name morphed ones I had they are gone I think and my grandis look realy realy angry so do the mary janes.

The snake polyp, sunny d, vulcans blood and gator eyes, pink diamonds and rastas all look untouched. In fact the rastas seem happier than ever.

Bit of bored pondering...At some point I quit naming most of my fish. The clowns in my other tank had names from years back but I dont think I've ever mentioned them. The others did not have names or I quit useing them at some point but I cant recall them having any. Someone pointed this out to me today so I decided to name them lol

The male clown the Wyoming white has now been named Nero the female is Boudica the shrimp is Sparta and the court jester is Teuta. Got a theme going here.

Got the replacement stuff from aqua sd after going back and forth they sent me a replacement ricordia and anemone shrimp that's in the other tank.i also ordered 2 zoas and a ric. The new ric is very nice and is chilling with the others in the ric pile.20220512_134146.thumb.jpg.331e66542471e3c3e8f5b0e0216bb526.jpg20220512_160635.thumb.jpg.b8f95acedb7707041989513330de21d8.jpg

Bit concerned this morning. I did a waterchange yesterday and added those new corals did not put any of the bag water in tanks. Both tanks had basicly the same things done to them on yesterday. The standard 20 was fine this morning and at first glance so was the penensula but then I saw that the clowns in the penensula were both breathing very fast but there color was good and they are active and hosting all over there usual toadstool. The corals and inverts all look fine and were quite fluffy this morning. I didnt have time to do another a water change or any testing before going to work. I tossed in a fresh bag of chemipure blue and some carbon and changed the filter fluff. Probly should have hooked up my skimmer but I've had it off line a while now and didnt want to risk an over flow leaking on my flooring it's not properly set. Keeping my fingers crossed they are ok when I get home. All I can think of is maby at somepoint after regular mantinance I may have put my hand back in that tank but not the other one to adjust something and had some chemical on me for some reason cant recall useing anything maby hand soap but the corals seemed unafected or perhaps the air freshener I sprayed in the hall had drifted into the room and contaminated the tank nearest the door. Gona be worrying all day about this.

It’s one of those days. I have been watching the grandkids since Wednesday and coming home while they are in school. Yesterday after feeding one of my tanks I forgot to turn the pump back on. No circulation for 24 hours. Corals are all closed.

Oh yes sorry I did not update. I have been messing with that new frag tank.

I was realy leaning towards some kind of contamination. Humblefish said on my local fourm where I also post that it could be some kind of paracite affecting the gills as only the fish at first seemed affected. I found when I got home some corals looked a bit upset and I beleive either him or another reefer on there pointed out that ph changes would affect the fish before corals. I was alredy running the tests as soon as I got home and I discovered it was an alk/ph drop other levels also a bit low. Something wrong with my water from the change.

It had been sitting about 48 hrs prior not sure if that contributed. All fish are fine and looking good. My bizarro cyphastrea and branching one look a bit mad a little pale and still not getting good polyp extension everything else is looking fine so far. I hope and pray I dont have a die off down the road from stressing the corals. It was realy dumb of me not to pretest basic paramiters of that water before I used it. It had sat for sevral days and I was not the one who mixed it. I was in a bit of a rush that day and did not do what I should have. I'm still kicking myself over this one.

Most of my corals recovered after my ph/alk issue. My bizarro cyphastrea is the only one that was looking rough. I moved it and my grandis to my other tank. I realy want a john deere leptastrea where the grandis was.

The zoas that had the least dammage from the asterinas predating on them are recovering some others still look a bit rough. I'm still activly removing any asterina that I see. I havent seen any in days but I'm still looking.20220530_194653.thumb.jpg.765a180430a6c72c6210b14707d62eb0.jpg20220530_194729.jpg.f00ec9e991513e57d10dde261fab5d17.jpg20220530_193247.thumb.jpg.1c121a6eee74af1f4df616bda8615cd3.jpg20220530_193417.thumb.jpg.fc7cfae275d6f0ab16803bd0216b6154.jpg

not sure what this last zoa is. Green skirt with a very pale green almost white face that is very reflective in photos almost metalic like. It was a random polyp on some others that got eaten this was the only one they left alone in that clump.

Some fluffy trachs.... The green ringed acan that arrived in rough shape is starting to recover.20220530_194506.thumb.jpg.8cf61c37b77a8e5ea67218fae3ca259c.jpg20220530_194134.thumb.jpg.efeac0b06e0eb4093b507d97ee756f97.jpg20220530_194253.thumb.jpg.f2c14d2aab71fd0c2a761bfa2a1a5000.jpg20220530_193958.thumb.jpg.96c3b2645e02f662eb6fc6152fdad7ab.jpg

My micromussa amakusensis. The mind teaser is growing very well and made a small frag of itself when I removed from a plug. The ufo has a thin green ringbon the outer edge but it's hard to see when it's super puffy. My dragon slayer eats well but it's not grown at all and the holy grail that's been an issue since it arrived has shrunk up by half. It still eats but I think it's on it's way out. It came freshly cut with each polyp having dammage it was stressed during shipping and then got stung by my bowerbanki. I think all the accumulative issues have done it in.20220530_193033.thumb.jpg.7563e8b8a9350a05bc749281d0fd7190.jpg20220530_193303.thumb.jpg.aa1ed087e7bd0fee12f2c2b1b11cb9d2.jpg

New fts dirty glass.20220622_105234.thumb.jpg.5b8cec5af209e94f8add5c455dd9bb10.jpg

A few new corals.

Sourced a replacement for my holy grail micromussa amakusensis. The original was a sickly fresh cut frag with all polyps having dammage. It did not fair well in shipping then got stung and has been slowly declining I still have it but nearly all the tissue is gone no matter what I do it still shrinking up.i think I'm just prolonging its eventual demise at this point. I got this one a bit ago and alredy the baby polyps look larger. If this one fails I will not try again with this coral. 20220622_105144.thumb.jpg.a51367777ff953e64b9db00c63e3fd65.jpgnice rhodactis it bleached a bit at first but is comming back.20220622_105800.thumb.jpg.0fa4846bc22cdc2bc24a062b44df5466.jpg

John deere leptastrea. A very yellow one. I wonder if it will get more green later. A bit more green shows from the top view.20220622_104847.thumb.jpg.b93f4f5565ce85b20dd9b478723079c9.jpg
