Bioball placement?

  • Christopher Marks changed the title to Bioball placement?

Many people decide to remove them entirely, instead depending on live rock in the display side of the tank for biological filtration. The concern with bioballs in a filter section, is that they can accumulate detritus over a long period of time, eventually causing issues long term.

I would definitely say they're optional, I'd personally go without them.

Same . Makes it way easier to clean the back chamber with out them..

I'd also ditch the stock filter tray and get an intank media basket😎🤙

See my post to the guy asking about ceramic rings.

Best function for bio balls is toys for your cat, They serve no practical function in a fresh or saltwater tank and used in an external filter can create problems.

I have the Chemi-pure sack in there, I have the intank filter upgrade, what should I replace the Bio-balls with?

I wouldn't replace it with anything at all, just remove them.
