Toadstool polyps going in and out

I added my first soft coral to the tank, a lovely purple and green toadstool. I noticed that the polyps extend and contract multiple times throughout the day.

The polyps come for a hour or two then they all contract and stay hidden for a few hours. Is this normal?

They did the same for me, It was a tricky coral for me to keep happy, I never knew why.

Its normal.

 

Leathers take awhile to acclimate to new environments, also anything that touches them can cause the polyps to retract.

 

Even after a waterchange, a leather can ve grumpy for hrs to days.
