Hello Reefers!

Glad to be back from a long hiatus from the hobby. My Fiancé and I decided to start a tank even though we have 4 cats.
I had the 15+ experience in the hobby and she never had a saltwater tank before, so It sounded like a good idea.
She did not even know corals were animals that eat! Lol

Without further ado, let me start the explanation and setup dairy of my new system.

Initial fill and setup was January 9th 2021.
Cycle completed on January 15th 2021 using Fritz Turbo Start 1oz and 3.6lbs of cured live Fiji rock

This will be a mixed reef starting with softies and LPS. After 6-8 months,
dependent on test results, my first SPS will be Birdsnest.

The tank consists of the following equipment and inhabitants:

  •          Tank: WaterBox 20 Gallon Cube
  •          Refuguim: CPR Aquafuge 2 (Small) HOB Refugium
  •          Lighting: AI Prime 16 HD
  •          Waterflow: AI Nero 3
  •          Return Pump: Sicce 1.0
  •          Heater: x2 Ehiem Jager 100W
  •          Heater Controller: Inkbird ITC-308S
  •          ATO: Tunze Osmolator 3155 w/ 5 Gallon Bucket as Res.
  •          Water Source: BRS 4-Stage Value Plus 75GPD RO/DI System
  •          Salt: Red Sea Coral Pro Salt
  •          Test Kits: Saltwater Master Test Kit, Hanna 736, Generic Refractometer w/ calibration fluid

Filter Chambers Setup & Media

 

1st Chamber – 10” Octo Cup w/ 2tbs of BRS Bulk Premium ROX 0.8 Carbon & Filter floss
2nd Chamber – CPR Aquafuge Output & X2 Jager Heaters
3rd Chamber – x2 Temp Probes, Tunze Osmolator ATO Sensor, CPR Aquafuge Pump, & Sicce Return Pump

  •          20lbs of Caribsea Life Rock
  •          3.6lbs of Fiji Cured live rock
  •          20lbs Caribsea Fiji Pink Sand
  •          Black & White Ocellaris Clown
  •          Orange & White Ocellaris Clown
  •          Peppermint Shrimp
  •          Fighting Conch
  •          X4 Nassarius Snails
  •          Assortment of crabs and other snails
  •          Green Star Polyp coral
  •          Chalice coral
  •          Zoanthids
  •          Duncan Coral
  •          Frogspawn Coral

Refugium (Approx 2.5 Gallons)

 

  •          4lbs of live Fiji rock
  •          ½ Gallon Caribsea Mineral Mud (3” deep Bed)
  •          1” deep Caibsea Oolite Sand (Layerd over Mineral Mud)
  •          Chaetomorpha
  •          Red Haliptilon
  •          Peppermint Shrimp
  •          Copopods/Amphipods
