Yellow Coris Wrasse sand bed

I want a yellow coris wrasse. I know it sleeps in the sand. I am not bare bottom tank but not a deep sand bed. 
 

From your experiences, what depth of sand do you need to keep this fish?

Ours has about an inch or so of sand, and it can completely bury itself (it's about 2 inches currently). 

 

With that being said - as it grows and get to  be 4-5" in length, we may have reassess the sand bed depth.
