Reef Reece
Hi all, wanted to create this thread for any helpful tips and just as a sort of timeline for myself really ! I decided to go the Fluval Evo 13.5 route after seeing the Fluval Owner's Thread on here and getting so much great advice from everyone I started the tank in early December and I've finally managed to get all my parameters very stable which is nice. Reef Reece
So far I've been very lucky with pests/algae, managed to fight off Diatoms within 2 weeks which was amazing, hair algae has all but disappeared after the Trochus eventually sniffed it out...now im currently dealing with Hydroid Jellyfish as best I can. Scraping them off daily so they don't build up too much, but hey ho ! Quote Link to comment
Reef Reece
So I finally made the plunge and had a very busy Saturday. Bought myself a: -AI Prime 16HD -Red Sea DIY Mesh Lid Kit -Autoaqua Smart ATO Micro I wanna start by saying the mesh lid was actually a joy to make, there were some fiddly bits, but it took me about an hour in total and came out like a dream. Nice and tight, no sagging from the netting and really brings the rimless look to life. Mounted the light and ended up downloading the David Saxby schedule and my god, the difference is unbelievable. Don't get me wrong everything was doing fine with the stock light, but this just enters a whole new world. Absolutely dead silent on full power and the effects on my ceiling from the reflection due to the open lid are an added bonus ! Finished by adding the ATO into CH3 and began the tedious work of finally bringing everything to the inside of the cupboard ( Extension lead, cables ) and doing some cable management, looks soo much better now...plus I now know which plug does what haha. Reef Reece
So I went and had a bit of a spend up today and got myself 4 new frags - Kenya Tree, hasn't acclimated fully yet so wanted to give it a chance to puff up. - Red/Green Blastomussa - Blue Acropora - Yellow Acropora And here are a couple of shots from my existing frags around the tank: - Toxic Green Candy Cane, this has already split 2 new heads since I've had it ! - Green Encrusting Montipora ( with a couple bits of GSP on it that are being taken over ) - Random Zoa's 4x different in total, making 2x Zoa Gardens Quote Link to comment
Reef Reece
Been a bit quiet lately as I've tried to keep my hands out of the tank as much as possible, but started with Reef Roids after adding the new corals and wow, what a difference ! Started to notice a lot more extension in the torch and the Zoa's are growing new polyps almost weekly which is a great sign. Unfortunately the Blasto got dug up by what I can only assume was one of the hermits and laid on its side for quite few hours, now the skeleton has eroded away quite a bit. Only time will tell if it recovers ! 1 Quote Link to comment
