Fuge Question!

It's answered many times over here so you should be able to find a more complete answer.... but basically

it's a refuge from the bigger more aggressive creatures. The idea here is to use it to contain algae and creatures that can develope and become food for the items in the main tank.

Also good for filtering water and quarentining corals and animals.

Sorry to hijack your post MiniWarriorZ, but i think this is in the same context.

I have decided i want to modify a HOB filter to become a fuge.

I was thinking of getting this this probably X2, but the reason i liked this particular model is because of the dual outlets.

what i think will be good to make this as a fuge is to get rid of the filter carts it comes with, and put a very deep send bed on one side with macros, etc as well and pretty much fill the other side with live rock.

does this seem reasonable?

cheers

Someone said in another thread that there is no point in making a deep sand bed (if any) since nothing is there to stir the sand up. Just toss in some live rock and some macros.

but i wonder if the chambers are too small on that for an effective fuge
