Normans Nano

Finally decided to get this thread started. I tried to start up this tank with supplies I already had laying around for the most part.

Tank:

Eheim Aquastyle 9 (used to be a planted tank setup. I took cut a piece of acrylic and drilled holes in it to make a back chamber for the filtration).

I made the stand out of 2X4s and a couple coats of stain

Filtration:

Chemipure blue nano

Sponge/filter floss

Caribsea Shroom Rock ( this has been cooking in my basement for almost a year)

Equipment:

Maxijet 400

Coralbox qp-5 wavemaker

Eheim 50W heater

AI Prime 16 HD (only piece of equipment I had to buy)

Livestock:

Tail Spot Blenny

Fire Shrimp

The beginning of a zoa garden... don't know all the names but a few are Scrambled Eggs, LA Lakers, Rasta, Yellow Hornets, Eagle Eyes  and Butt Kissers. If any one knows the bottom three on the glass let me know!

A few close up of the other corals in the tank. I don't plan on adding too much else. Want these to really grow out.

Blasto, HG micromussa, No name acan, Kryptonite candy cane and Violet Cespitularia .

Looking good in there. I like your coral selections.

Thanks! Trying to resist the urge to keep adding. Pick a few I like and watch em grow!

This might be a long shot, but any idea what is growing on this plug? Its so small... wondering if I should just cover it in glue and be done with it...

Nice setup, I have 10g cube also. Have you had any trouble getting you Blenny to eat? What do you feed?

Thanks. Yes I did at first. He would half go for the food the spit it out. Tried a few different foods. I have had the best luck feeding him Hikari Seaweed Extreme small pellets. Seems to love them!

I’m trying to decide whether I want to get a YCG or a tailspot. They’re both really cute fish. I love your tank!

Both great fish for nano tanks, I have had both at one time or another. The YCG I found was not as active. Cool fish but always chilling on the rock. My tail spot at first was very shy, but after a while got comfortable and is out and about all the time.

O cool ,I'll give those a try. Mine was the same way, finally got him some Ocean Nutrition Seaweed. He loves it. He spends most of the day munching on it.

Nice! I might give mine some Nori too. I have some from my tangs in the other tank. Good for him to get a variety!

Too long since I updated this thread, but that tank had a leak last week so had to downsize to a tank I had laying around in the basement. Only livestock is a coral banded shrimp and some snails!
