Nitrite Mystery

Hello all. So recently I've ran into a problem I'm not quite sure how to solve. Yesterday, I noticed a spike in Ammonia and nitrates. As I tore my setup down and restarted it to re-clean any potential risks, I expected this. Testing today, my levels were as follow:

Ammonia: 0

Nitrates: 2

Nitrites: 1

PH: 8.0 (would like to get that up)

Salinity: 1.023

I'm glad the ammonia and nitrates went down, however, the nitrites are still high. I've done a 40% and 20% water change within the last week to help bring the levels down, but cannot seem to bring the Nitrites down. I'm confused as to why this is as it hasn't been an issue in the past. I'm dosing MicroBacter7 with a Kessil A360 for lighting. Any past experience, advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

If water changes aren't bringing it down, something in your tank is releasing it. Most likely something is releasing ammonia, and your tank is able to process that ammonia into nitrites, but not all the nitrites into nitrates. Do you have livestock in the tank that could be harmed by the nitrites?

(Also, you may want to up your nitrates to at least 5ppm later, most corals do best when it isn't right next to zero.)
