Have a startup journal for this tank.

and thought I’d start and ongoing, success and blunders.

things have gone well so far.

I cycled the tank with new Life Rock, and 2 year old live rock and ceramic media from my EVO 13.5.

I left the lights off for 1 1/2 months, added first fish (clown) around the three week mark.

now have lights on, corals from EVO 13.5 added, plus cleaner shrimp, six line wrasse, YWMG (James earl jones), and EVO’s cleanup crew. Only new addition was six line.

everything healthy and happy looking, and no algae blooms yet. Working on dialling in Dos system ( two part).

Nice

That is some return pump

I always cheap out on that part. Lifegard 4000.  I can't figure out why I want to have speed control on that part of the system.

Syncra SDC has been awesome so far. I run it around 35%

Currently running:

-RSR 300 skimmer

-Syncra SDC 6.0 RTN pump

-Nero 5 power head

-Ai hydra 32 HD

-Neptune ATK V2 (working like a charm) and I’ll keep you updated if that changes.

-Aqueon pro 150 heater

-Neptune DOS ( 2 part )

-Neptune Apex

-hydor power head in RTN pump chamber to add flow for dosing drop point.

I’ll keep all posted on any equipment failures or blunders.

for now I just tossed my corals in from my EVO. Still have to sort. Pretty much all but the porities frag will stay at current height.

lights are just coming on, so corals are still asleep.

The clown and the 6 line surf together all day.

Love the clean look of the scape. What's the long-term plan?

You mentioned the ATK specifically. Are there known issues with it? I have one sitting around that would eventually be used on a frag system I may set up.

The pallet that was delivered looks like an old fat-back tv is under the plastic. 🤪

I know right, rear projection.

ATK V1 had sensor issues, and I’ve heard of pump issues, but most have been negated by fixing setup issues as far as I’ve seen. Mine has been wonderful thus far.

the lag you can set from sensor trip to pump on is a cool feature.

Long term plan, I’m looking at Current LPS, plus birds nest, monti digi. Maybe even a nice gorgonian for one of the back corners.

I may put an acro up top along with my porities. We’ll see. I’m in no rush.
looking at two more small fish.

thinking a Royal Gramma and ?. Need to keep scale appropriate.
