Are my eyes fooling or is that refractometer longer than the tank? 🤔

Skimmer in that? You can't have enough to skim surely

I think by conventional standards I'm planning on overstocking it heavily and carbon dosing, so it needs a skimmer to deal with the bacterial load if anything

Yeah, acrylic - sadly it was laser cut and then hand polished, so there are some bubbles in the seam and it's not a perfectly clear weld 😞

glass surface skimmer is in, and the protein skimmer is now running.

I haven’t cured real liverock in years so I have no idea how long to cycle this for

Put a SeaChem Ammonia badge on it

Add some CUC, add some bottled bacteria

That looks like algae on the rock

Get it going

good idea!

I’ll get one on Amazon, it seems to be growing some diatoms now. There’s also a tiny clam that seems to be alive. Live rock is exciting

It’s 33x25x22cm (not full to the brim), so 5 gallons less the live rock

Looks nice. Are you adding a sand bed or going bare bottom?

I think bare bottom, I’m hoping to attach everything directly to the one chunk of rock so it can be lifted out in one and the tank scrubbed when needed, I really like the clean simplicity of the setup!

Grimes was right, i added two little bubble tips,

gonna feed them every second day and get them to take over some of the rock if I can!

It is! It’s expanded some already,

I definitely need to get some snails or hermits in here for algae control, tempted to get a sexy shrimp or something to sit with the nems.

I was tempted to do this today, but I really want the BTA's to spread, or actually I might get a larger BTA to see if I can tempt the clowns..
