That side view is really, really impressive; love the sloping drop-off aesthetic to it.

Thanks! The sloping drop-off was unintentional. I didn't realize it until I actually woke up one morning and stared at the tank from my bed in mild confusion.

I like the macro area the most though. I'm thinking of transferring my purple gorg. from the refugium of the 60G to the nano tomorrow. Hopefully it'll fare better in this tank. If I'm not mistaken, it's a NPS gorg., and not a photosynthetic one, but I'm not 100% sure.

hey Seabass...yeah, I guess it would be similar to an undergravel filter.

my question was in regards to removing the risk of the bubbles in the tank...reducing the possibility of harm to any creature like crab or snail.

This LED light from Amazon is only $80 for a 48". Was $250 at my LFS.

I think you might have posted this in the wrong thread, but on the off-chance you didn't - that light is unsuitable for this tank because the tank is only 18" long and the light is 48" to 60" long. Also, I don't *think Amazon ships to Msia. If it does, shipping alone might be more expensive than the cost of the light (and the item might get taxed at customs). 👍

Update #1:

New day, same reef, different mischief by different critters of chaos! 😉

Stripey the turban snail was spotted cleaning up the sandbed:

Well, I think my gorg. in the 60G's fuge was dead. Oops.

It was covered in macro, but I stripped the algae off and put it in the nano because I liked the branching shape of the skeleton:

The colors are all either wrong or paled out. Both a mixture of nutrient & lighting issue. The lighting issue will be corrected soon, but regarding the nutrients, I'm not sure what I can do - until my new test kits arrive, and I find out the exact values of my NO3 & PO4 levels.

I suspect it keeps bottoming out. Despite having 3 fish, I do feed them lightly and I'm reluctant to overfeed them because there is simply no reason too. It looks like I *might have to look up on manually dosing PO4. But once again, I'll wait until I can test.

I don't want to upset the delicate balance this system is currently in. Too much PO4 and the SPS will brown out & die, too little and the SPS & LPS will pale out and be shrunken. Even my Zoa Garden *might be affected, so I'll have to be extra careful.

I am thinking of adding a pair of small Nassarius snails to stir the sandbed in the future. That, and a second shrimp - a GCBS (also known as a Zanzibar shrimp). They're difficult to come by and quite expensive, but stay small and are relatively peaceful.

My algae appears to be under control with my current pair of turban snails, so I won't be adding more unless I need to. 👍

I decided to do a 40% WC today.

When I drained the tank, both the pavona & leptoseris were exposed and I could have a good look at them:

20201128_130014.thumb.jpg.0df20fdc758f125143d2b8f959561c9e.jpg

IMG_20201128_125943_620.thumb.jpg.f3157454cad6e6d536dc9d3f8269f3ae.jpg

IMG_20201128_125943_621.thumb.jpg.a5651c8acd96fecbd78c343724a37129.jpg

I was mostly amazed at how much both pieces have grown - especially the pavona. It has a *lot of curves & ripples, and I think it can develop the rose-like formation the mother colony at the store has, in time. 🤗

I also moved certain coral pieces around to ensure they had better access to light - such as my duncan & pocci, which has been moved from the bottom right corner of the tank to the back/center area of the tank. I also shifted my forest fire digi to the back, next to the green leptastrea, where it is far away from Dusky's burrow.

Dusky seemed to be quite pleased with the changes:

IMG_20201128_130233_922.thumb.jpg.3aef449992df9a1763268115af130a66.jpg

And I hope these pieces can grow out & make a comeback again. I *might have been a bit rough with the duncan, but I'll monitor it. If it still hasn't opened up by tomorrow, I'll try to give it an iodine dip.

The nuclear blue/green palys were partially buried under the sand by Sapphire, but I cleared the sand off (basted) and the frag is okay:

IMG_20201128_130205_719.thumb.jpg.169b30907b586206392cf6da1b2bdcef.jpg

Here's the tank right after the WC - some corals are still partially closed, but the tank overall looks okay:

20201128_130403.thumb.jpg.a8d81b11fbda486262db3833f837e90d.jpg

I will focus on trying to nurse all the discolored SPS pieces back to full health. Not all of my pieces are affected, only some, which I find a bit odd & intriguing. 🤔

I also re-glued the fallen setosa fraglet onto Coralline Ledge, so I currently have 3 pieces of setosa located throughout various areas/levels of the tank. I'd like to compare the growth rate between the 3 and find out which position is best for optimal setosa growth (so far I *think it's the main frag attached to the back wall of the tank).

The 7 morphs are Green Implosion, *Unknown green starburst, sunkist-something-something, a something-that-starts-with-a-letter-B, Devil's Armor, Incredible Hulk & Incinerator. I honestly didn't catch the names of the 'B' zoa & Sunkist one. Whenever my LFS manager repeated the name, I just couldn't seem to grasp it. 😕

Might have to look it up once it is fully open & I can see the colors better. 🤔

Also, I was offered a Krakatoa polyp, but it's ultra-premium & ultra-expensive. Even with the steep discount given by the store, it was way beyond my budget. 😕

Gotta admit, it was very beautiful though. I'll try to look out for more morphs. There was one new one that I skipped out on today - so might pick that up next time.

Also, if you notice closely, my red hornets appears to be showing the early signs of Zoa Pox. One of my mini zoa colonies - the not-too-fancy brownish-reddish ones with the pink rings have shrunken polyps today & yesterday.

If they don't improve, I'll be dipping the colony rock & Zoa Ledge in Furan-2 treated SW tomorrow/day after. Need to browse through my old picoreef thread to reread how I tackled it the last time. 👍

I'm looking out for more morphs like Red Magician Palys, Purple People Eater, Midas, Sakura etc. My primary LFS has a very good collection of zoas & palys, but a few more trips to their store & I'd have collected a little of everything they have, except for the ultra-premium morphs.

My secondary LFS usually has a bunch of mixed up, browned out, mislabeled zoas. If my luck is good, I can score a few unique pieces from their discount rack, nurse them back to health, and watch them color back up again. 😊

I'm trying my best not to deal with local online coral vendors if possible (quite a few have popped up during the semi-lockdown). Some of the prices are too high. Plus, depending on the vendor, packaging & posting can be an issue in our weather (hot, humid & tropical).

Might as well support my LFSes, where I can see the animals firsthand, check them for health issues/pests and *choose them personally. 👍
