Feels a bit empty without Harvey in it. 😔

If I ever get lucky enough to acquire another saron for this tank, I'll get one. Hands down, quite possibly the best shrimp ever for this nano. 💦

Discovered an issue today. The pavona must have put out some sweepers last night because my acans was shrunken today and had a chunk of melted flesh on one side. I moved the acans to the sandbed for now:

But it is between 2 shrooms. I'm planning on chipping off the shroom on the left and putting it with the other pile of shrooms on the far right (Mushroom Mountain). This should give the acans some space to heal and grow out again.

Pulling the acans off the main LR left an unsightly hole in the rock to be exposed. Hoping the pavona would eventually grow out and shade it:

In the meantime, Pickle has begun showing interest in my yuma garden. Caught her smooching the bright green one:

Also wish I could frag this to half its size to trade in some heads at the LFS, but it is anchored to well to the LR below:

The duncan is still stuck at 13 heads.

Tank is still waking up for the day. Most polyps and heads are still shrunken.

The compressed sizes make their colors stand out more, as opposed to when they are fully open. Is it the same for the corals in all of your tanks?

I find it strange, yet fascinating.

My green hairy mushroom has split recently and now I have 3 of them - one of which, has chosen to anchor itself to the glass wall of my tank. I *think it will split again soon.

Not complaining, because more heads = more corals for me to swap out at my store.

I'm happy my rainbow yodas have managed to retain their central markings this time. Those trademark markings tend to fade out in my tank for some reason:

Some polyps are still shrunken. I'm trying to find a safe way to frag off some of my firestorms.

I'm reluctant to frag my Vampire-In-Drags though. I really like their color.

Gotta love a hermit that knocks one of your pricey corals into another pricey coral:

Duncan missing flesh in 3 heads:

Orange leptastrea missing flesh in the center:

20221216_202752.thumb.jpg.3528130701f7791be9f6a7dee579123b.jpg

Had to dip them both in a concentrated iodine bath and remove as much of the melted flesh as possible. Quite worried for my duncan, in particular. 😕

I cleaned the filter out and scrubbed the wavemaker thoroughly though. Also cleaned the glass and replaced the filter media. Will WC tomorrow.

I finally went to my LFS today. Placed a bunch of frags - various zoas & shrooms on reserve, and due for pick up after my holiday break. 👍

I also spotted a pair of sarons!!! 🥰

20221219_130604.thumb.jpg.3ab2e3164d87b7442e96f25b2eb20bb6.jpg

Unfortunately, both shrimp were unhealthy and on the verge of dying. I gently used the store's baster to touch them - and both were lying flat on their sides and moving sluggishly (this pic was taken when I first entered the shop, and 1 shrimp was still standing upright whilst the other was on its side). Given how reactive sarons are, I knew they would most likely die mid-journey on the way back to my house. 😔

So I gave them both a miss. Hoping to get healthier specimens in the future.

However, I did pick up 2 decently healthy (on the outside) fish today! 🥰

The firefish was already eating, but the RCG wasn't. They're both chunky though! I've decided to name the firefish (which was quite pricey, btw) Bullet, and the RCG Tiki. Love them to bits already. 🥰

Wow that's going to fill in every space you have! I love the new fish. Firefish even the common ones are one of my favorites.

I'll be fragging some of my firestorms, purple monsters, fairy dust and sakuras zoas, then trade those in. Should clear up a lot of space to accomodate the new zoa morphs. 👍

I've always secretly admired firefish, but they are usually very skittish and jumpy. This tank has 2 lids though, but I covered 2 tiny gaps with large river pebbles just in case. The pebbles will help weigh the lids down too.

Both new fish are okay. Bullet the firefish is now resting under Coralline Ledge for the night and sharing her space with Shrimpy the YCBS.

Tiki is resting out in the open. He seems to like my christmas favia a lot. 😊

Spotted the Tiki the RCG out and about near my GSP this morning, but no signs of Bullet the firefish. Double-checked my floor around the aquarium just in case she jumped, but no body so far, so hopefully she's just hiding and is a late-riser. 😕

Tiki:

Omg adorable! 🥰 I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an RCG before.

The Zoa Garden - few empty spaces from lost morphs. Will need to frag off a few older morphs, then trade those in for new varieties:

Looks great. I've lost a lot this year, I think my tank breakdown at the start of year lost me a lot

They seem to be quite rare, but this is twice in a year now that my LFS managed to get them in. This batch looked much healthier than the previous one though. All 3 fish were thicker, chunky and large with clear eyes.

2 had ripped fins a bit. But I noticed they can't be kept together in the same tank. There was quite a fair bit of chasing and posturing going around at the store.

So far, I've come across several different types of clown gobies here - yellow, warpaint/green, black, red and citron. The only issue I find with these guys is feeding. Once they are weaned onto prepared, they are usually stable though. 👍

Sorry to hear about that, Murph. 😔

We put a lot of hard work, passion, time, heart and soul into our systems, and tearing them down can literally break you. I understand that most, because I have lost entire systems before, and had to tear it down and build it back from scratch. Animals dying on you are the hardest, I feel. 😔

Did you retain any of your corals at all at least? I haven't dropped by your thread for a while, but I need to do a lot of catching up.

Oh, I finally found Bullet! She's holed up in a nice dark burrow facing the back of the tank, and decided not to emerge today. I'm so glad both Tiki and herself made it through their first night without issues. 👍

I will be focusing on my corals from here on out. That, and keeping an eye out for a healthy saron shrimp at my LFS. 👍

Ah, glad you found Bullet… I hope she will find a spot where you can see her some.
