Snow_Phoenix
This is the first WC in 2 weeks, and everything is understandably pissed off. The Zoa Garden took quite a hit and I lost many beautiful polyps, including most of my Gold Mauls and Vampire in Drags. 😭 My toadstool leather coral was growing out too quickly and overshadowed half of the zoas, so most of them in the fringes have either shrunk or melted away. 😔 I decided that the best course of action was to move the leather out into my 60G predator-softy tank, where it can grow out without overshadowing anything else. The tank does look bare without the toadstool, which was my centerpiece, and the corals are still unhappy from the WC. 😕 There are now several empty patches here and there. Once everything stabilizes, I'll re-expand my zoa collection and try to re-attain any lost morphs. As for the barren area next to the forest fire digi garden, I *might try to put a stick there - or simply keep any eye out for any slow-growing frags at the store which will not trouble any of its neighbors (much). 🤔 Tiny acans would seem like another option, but I'll see first. Right now, I'm just letting my tank settle back down, and rest. (Still nursing a terrible neck muscle strain - been over a week now, hence the delayed WC). 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Everything was still shrunken this morning, but I caught more details on some of the shrooms! 🥰 Merlettis. 😊 Also spotted a cherry red spaghetti worm out in the open on the rock: The fascination favia was still moody in the morning though: ^All the pics above were taken in the morning. It's evening now, and almost everything is fully open. 👍 I'll take more pics later. Most of the Zoas and palys have perked up too. I think it'll take a few weeks for the surviving morphs to grow out again. I spotted a few vermetids too, so I'll have to crush those. Perhaps tomorrow...? 🤔 2 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
Salinity is slightly elevated today and the corals seem to be faring better than yesterday. 👍 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Both Mushroom Mountain and the main Zoa Ledge look better today as well. 👍 Still a few closed polyps though! 🤔 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Up to 8 trumpet coral heads and counting! Seeing some VID polyps finally opening up again: 🥰 Spot Harvey! 👀 Slowly bouncing back: Hungry acans: Next WC was supposed to be today, but it'll most likely be pushed back for another 1 to 3 days. 👍 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Mushroom Mountain still stands strong (just need to siphon out those pesky flatworms) : Apologies for the string of pics! Just wanted to share this with all of you. 🌺 3 Quote Link to comment
Looselyhuman
What fish do you have? Could possibly add a sapphire damsel for the flatworms. 1 Quote Link to comment

Just a clownfish currently. Sapphires are quite hard to come by here because we mostly get a random mix of wild-caught damsels here, and most of the time they come in mislabeled. I was planning on getting another Talbot. My previous one was peaceful enough (for a damsel) and got along very well with my clown. 1 Quote Link to comment

I usually just use a tiny plastic pipette and siphon out whichever ones I see. These guys have a tendency to escape dipping sometimes. I'm unsurprised that a few made it into the tank. Luckily they don't bother the corals - they just look unsightly, that's all. 1 Quote Link to comment

Was mostly resting in bed throughout the evening. Managed to go for another walk - still feeling tired and aching all over, but I *think the pain is less today. I still haven't WCed my nano, picked up live food for the lions from the FW LFS or picked up my new rockscape from my SW LFS (definitely in no condition to drive that far anytime soon). 😕 I'll just have to wait this one out. All the fish are fine but some of the corals in the nano are moody. The glass for all of my tanks need a good scrape - I can barely see my hujeta gar and sev. cichlid pair in my FW predator tank. 😕 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
Glad you feeling a little better. Another walk and fresh air sounds perfect. Now rest. I know you want to do maintenance and go to the LFS. It’s hard but if you can’t right now then you can’t and shouldn’t. Hopefully tomorrow you will feel a little better than today. 1 Quote Link to comment

And I agree - it is hard to sit around and do nothing sometimes - especially when there is work to be done. But I also know my limits, and the best thing to do is just wait it out and enjoy what I currently have. The tanks actually run by themselves - all I have to do is dose them daily and feed the fish, then top-off the water every 3 days. Barring WCs, it's otherwise quite simple to maintain since the systems are old enough to run without interference. 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm doing much better. Just swamped with a lot of pet-related work. The nano had to take a backseat for ~2 weeks and is full of algae and lackluster/sullen corals. 😞 I need to WC it, but will probably do so tomorrow somehow. I have to give my dog a bath today evening - have no idea what she rolled in, but she reeks! 🤢 So, clean pup first, then clean tank. 3 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Did the WC this morning. Ended up battling an awful migraine the whole day. Currently resting and on painkillers - but at least the tank is clean. My LFS has some red clown gobies in stock. Was planning on dropping by the store to purchase one, but I definitely can't make the drive on my own. 😔 1 Quote Link to comment
