Snow_Phoenix
Microgoni from the top: Puffy lobo: Still have algae, but the corals are still healthy & growing, so it's not too bad (just unsightly). 👍 2 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Red mini carpet: 🥰 Sapphire looking fab. this morning - her bottom fins and the edge of her tail fin still has orange highlights: 😄 I think she *might eventually transition into a male. 😊 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
It's a sleepy morning in the reef and some of zoas & palys are still opening up. I noticed my Incinerator is finally regaining some of its old colors! 😄 : The Incredible Hulks are still opening up: And the Zoa Ledge overall is still recovering: 👍 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
My yuma did this weird stretchy-thing this afternoon, and it looked a bit strange/beautiful: 🥰 These two will not stop eating each other so I seperated them from direct contact using a chunk of LR that I pulled out from the fuge of my 60G: The rainbow brain has lost some flesh on one side. It tried to get revenge on the lobo by eating it today: 🙄 Also, I think I have dinos. Just a guess, but this is what my sandbed looks like when the lights are on: And it vanishes - for the most part - at night, only to show up the next day. 😕 1 Quote Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
I get that usually just before it's due for a water change. Sand goes a bit rusty looking. The chunk of live rock you put in looks good to me Quote Link to comment

The chunk of live rock you put in looks good to me Yeah, I usually see it around 3 to 4 days after a WC. It's like my tank's slowly expiring and telling me I need to prepare for another WC - soon. 😛 Just worried it might be dinos though. My trochus is currently eating the layer on the sandbed, so maybe it's just regular slime algae and I'm overthinking this. Thanks! Didn't have to rummage through the fuge long before I pulled it up. It's a bit big, and clumsy-looking when I put it at the front of the tank, but it does act as a good barrier. The brains have grown a fair bit ever since I moved them into this tank. I didn't really realize how *fast they were growing until one tried to overlap the other. Eventually, I'll have to move one brain out to the 60G because there's not enough room on the sandbed to retain two brains side by side. 😕 2 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Panda & Qin this morning: 😄 The rest of the pics were taken in the evening:- The rainbow brain certainly looked better today: And the starburst zoas are finally opening up again: 😊 Quote Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
Pavona: Leptoseris: Merletti-mix: Weeping willow toadstool: Setosa - there's a teeny bit of flesh missing from the tip since the last WC. Maybe because the coral was exposed to air for 15+ mins. (?). Not sure. 🤔 : Quote Link to comment

Panda's a she - and she's actually very mellow. Her markings does make her look like a grumpy badass though! Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Qin found a gap between my lid and the filter and jumped out. I heard a small noise while I was asleep but I assumed one of my soul catchers fell off my writing board, not my fish! 😨 He was very crunchy when I found him. And was out of the water for ~50 mins. I dipped him back in the tank, then I noticed a lot of air bubbles were exiting his mouth, and his mouth itself was slowly moving. I put him fully in and his mouth and gills are slowly working: It's awful, and I'm not sure if he can survive the night. He is sliming a lot though - a defense mechanism under stress. His fins & scales are ripped off in places from where I had to pull him off - he was stuck against my unopened oil canvas frame, and I'm heartbroken. 😭 I'm going to find a way to glue some extra mesh on the lid to fish-proof it fully. I think he jumped because he was playing with his reflection again. He always does it after he's full from eating. 😭 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
He's gasping harder, but still hanging on: 😭 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
This is terrible. 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
His eyes & gills are moving. Slowly. Breathing is still labored. You can see the grayish areas where he has lost some scales. I truly hope he makes it through the night. I wanted to add him to my 60G tomorrow, on my father's birthday. And then invite my parents over into my room to see the fish during the evening feeding session. 😔 If Qin pulls through, he'll need a month or two to fully recover from this. One side of his body is damaged, and some of his fins are frayed. My greatest fear is that he would be too injured to eat, and slowly starve to death. Today really was a stressful day, even without Qin jumping. 😔 I've already measured the mesh to glue over the lid and cover any gaps. I don't have any super glue, so coral glue should do for now. 2 Quote Link to comment
growsomething
It is amazing how fish can find the smallest gaps to jump out of. If he made it this far, there's hope! 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Qin didn't make it through the night. My only consolation is that he did not have to suffer long, and besides injuries sustained from his fall, was otherwise quite fat. I really wanted to take a break from reefing after this, but I have too many other SW animals counting on me. Might take a short break from the main forums though. Thanks to everyone who has supported Qin during his short journey in this reef. I miss him already. 😔 4 Quote Link to comment
growsomething
Such a cute caricature of all that is interesting in aquarium fish! So sorry. Hope you do something to take your mind off it and keep on reefing. Went to your capital on my honeymoon. I have slight claustrophobia and had to force myself to breathe slowly when they literally squeezed us in with no room to move in the Petrona Towers elevator. Awesome city. Makes us look like rednecks here in FL. 1 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
So sorry about Qin. You take such good care of all your creatures. Fish jumping can be heart breaking but almost everyone has had it happen. Take some time away from the forums if you have to. We will be here when you come back but please don't give up.
